Threads: We Went Walking

This past weekend we three amigos went for a walk. And I wore my new sweater. Oh and a hat.  And pics of all these things are brought to you by hubs.  We talked and chuckled about stories from our childhoods, mostly retold stories.  I reminded him he is married to a gal who used to eat chewed gum off the sidewalk as a kid.  Chew on that little fact.

Is My Clutter Showing?

This picture makes me laugh because once upon a time we said we wouldn’t buy any baby gadgets unless they were absolutely necessary. We didn’t want to clutter up our remaining space. (Read about our Fun Size home here) Well, the definition of necessary changes when you have a screaming baby who won’t sleep unless she is being rocked, so you point to the door and your delirious sleep deprived husband stumbles into Walmart just before closing to buy and assemble a little something called a snugga-monkey.  Humorous title for the desperation involved in its acquisition.  Or when you worry your babe doesn’t have enough stimulation and won’t learn the basics like reaching or rolling or going to Harvard, so you come home from a well visit and put her play mat together. Oh and our promise to leave her crib in her little corner. Ha. Good one.  Yeah, it makes tons of sense to get my happy bum out of bed 50 times to replace a pacifier rather than just blissfully reaching over to remedy the problem.  Yep, we have accrued some stuff and we can laugh about it.

In all honesty, there are some days when our fun size space feels a bit tight, but for the most part those days can be turned around by putting away all the gadgets (even if it’s only for an hour) or going for a walk or a car ride.  Sometimes we go visit grandparents or go to the store or have lunch with a friend.  Yep, it hasn’t been half bad. We are looking forward to a house, but for now we continue to laugh and have joy and some of our best memories in our little home.

A Day at the Zoo

We spent this morning at the Atlanta zoo with Mimi.  I'm grateful for these memories and seeing things for the first time through this little babe. The Komodo dragon and droves of elementary school kids on field trips appeared to be among her favorite sightings. Go figure.

THREADS: Gigi

I am super excited to show you what is about to happen below.  This beautiful girl, who happens to be my sis-in-law, and I got together recently to take senior pics. We rolled the windows down, turned the radio up, and talked about college, clothes and photography-such a great time. Love her. She is the best.

Thank you, Gigi, for your amazing heart and pursuit of the lovely in this world, oh and thanks also for your pretty face by which these photos were made possible. ;) Enjoy!

Let's Go, Braves!

Marin has a cry that we have coined “the squirrel cry” because it is so high pitched and happens in such quick successions that it sounds like a little squeaky rodent.  It normally occurs when she is at her wits’ end.  Now while the description sounds a bit amusing, the actuality of it is just heartbreaking, like my mama instinct is at its peak, and I feel like I can’t breath until I help the tortured babe.   Well, Friday night we were on the road, so excited to take Marin to her first Braves game, when fifteen minutes into the ride, squirrel cry commenced. Ugh.  We suffered twenty minutes of rodent wailing before I resolved to just snatch the baby up and walk the rest of the way.  And walk we did. We walked by the capitol, and under a bridge, and around some graffiti, and my little bit was happy as a clam.  Ahhh, sweet relief.  Don’t mind us gang buster; nothing to see here, stumbling man with a brown sack coming straight for us.  Okay, I’m exaggerating a bit.  It was actually a pleasant little stroll and so many kind people stopped to smile at Marin and tell me what a cute son I had. Wait. What?  (Oops…dressed the kid in athletic wear and forgot the bow in the car during my mad dash to silence the sounds of a dieing vermon).

We finally strolled up to Turner field, a little out of breath, but oh so excited for Marin’s first Braves game and a playoff game on top of it all! And what a great game it was!  I’ll save you all the details from the game, mostly because I wasn’t paying enough attention, and skip to the fact that we brought in the WIN!! Woop Woop!  It was a blast and such a great memory for our little family.  Shout out to Big Papi and Nana for the tickets! Thank you!

Oh and to my dear Braves, show those Dodgers who is boss tonight!  I mean, we endured squirrel cry for you, walked the streets of Atlanta with a twenty-pound five month old baby girl who withstood incessant accusations of cross gendering.  I mean c’mon, let’s bring home the win.

And to my sweet friends who read this blog, if you have some lucky underwear then by all means put them on tonight! Well, if they are clean of course. Oh forget it, put them on anyway because if those Bravos lose tonight then we are done, caput, finito.  Let’s go Braves!

THREADS: Find Me in the Fall

Find me in the Fall

Find me in the Fall by megwallblog featuring gemstone stud earring sets

Happy Tuesday, friends! I spent little bean's nap time dreaming up a few pieces for the Fall. Warm cup of coffee in hand and fashion perusing...yes and yes.  A girl can't always buy, but a girl can always dream.  Enjoy.
